Rabbi Alex Miller, Boys Elementary School Menahel

We are truly blessed to have Rabbi Miller in our Yeshiva. His personality resonates in the halls of our Yeshiva and the happy faces of the students are a testament to the warmth, love and care he gives each one of them. He’s an experienced educator who used multisensory methods and differentiated instruction to teach a variety of grade levels. He brings his superb instructional skills into each classroom as he guides the rabbis in preparing lessons and reaching each boy.

Rabbi Miller received a scholarship to take part in the prestigious Yesod Maalah national fellowship for menahalim worldwide. He has recently graduated from this prominent program and brings a unique enthusiasm for establishing high level policies and procedures for running a school. Rabbi Miller is a true leader who strives for excellence in all areas as he leads our children on their journey of growth.

Mrs. Raisy Lieberman, Boys Elementary School Principal

Mrs. Lieberman brings to YDE her extensive experience in the field of education, and her commitment to excellence within a dynamic and warm school environment. Her success in her previous positions, and her talents and skills, will serve to enrich the education of our students. Her forward-looking approach and her focus on the academic success and personal growth of her students will be very valuable as YDE continues its growth and dedication to its students and our community.

Mrs. Lieberman has worked with the entire gamut of students, from those who require special services to the academically ambitious. She has over fifteen years of hands-on teaching experience of all ages and learning levels combined with administrative experience. Additionally, she supervises and mentors student teachers from Long Island University, The College of New Rochelle, and Daemon College. Furthermore, she teaches college courses at The New Seminary, which is an affiliate of Adelphi University. She is a highly qualified educator with an outstanding record of success in all her endeavors.

Mrs. Lieberman earned her Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Adelphi University as well as a second Master of Science in School Building Leadership and Administration (SBL) from St John’s University.

Mr. Jonathan Albala, Boys Middle School Associate Principal

Mr. Albala comes to YDE with a wide range of experience in the public school sector, as well as in private schools. He joins YDE after completing over 17 years in the field of education, both as a teacher and as an administrator. Most recently, Mr. Albala has held the position of Principal of General Studies at Mercaz HaTorah Yeshiva of Belle Harbor.

As an administrator, Mr. Albala has been involved in initiating and implementing many new and innovative programs. He has been closely involved in curriculum writing and rubric development reflecting the Common Core learning standards. Mr. Albala was also directly involved in individualizing curriculum tasks to reflect the specific needs of every student.

Mrs. Rachel Elbaum, Boys Elementary School Director of Student Achievement

At her new position as Director of Student Achievement, Mrs. Elbaum will oversee the academic progress of all students in need of academic assistance as well as gifted students seeking enrichment. Mrs. Elbaum will be working directly under our Secular Studies principal, Mrs. Raisy Lieberman, and our Associate principal of middle school, Mr. Jonathan Albala, to jointly guide teachers on improving classroom instruction and curriculum implementation to best reach every student.

Mrs. Elbaum has been an instrumental part of YDE’s development since its inception, and has been serving as the Judaic studies curriculum director. She has established an exemplary curriculum and has been supervising and implementing the curriculum, enabling our students to achieve academic excellence. Her teacher training and coaching empowers teachers to be successful in reaching every student in the classroom. Mrs. Elbaum’s care, warmth and understanding of differentiated instruction methods ensure that each child can reach their utmost potential.

In her many years in the education field, Mrs. Elbaum has successfully taught all aspects of the curriculum across many grade levels. Her impressive academic background has ensured that she is up to date on the latest research and educational methods. She possesses two masters degrees in education and school building leadership and is also a New York State certified school leader. She also holds a second Master of Science in Education and Literacy. She is trained to teach reading based on the Slingerland and Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory approaches and She has worked as a reading specialist for many years.

Mrs. Bashi Salzman, Boys Elementary School Psychologist

Mrs. Bashi Salzman’s ( MA, LMHC) warmth, creativity and keen insight make her a tremendous asset to our team. She develops and implements our unique social skills curriculum as well as guide teachers and parents and meets individually with students. Her holistic approach fosters a supportive atmosphere in which our students can flourish and actualize their potential.
Mrs Salzman holds a Masters degree in school psychology and mental health counseling from Touro College. She is a licensed mental health counselor with a decade of experience working with children and adults both in New York and Israel.
